The Local Government Sector in Ireland has responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of services in local areas, with a focus on ensuring cities, towns and the countryside remain an attractive place to live, work and invest in. Vacancies now exist within Cavan County Council and Mayo County Council for the position of Head of Information Systems. These are senior positions within the Information Communications Technology function of the Councils. The successful candidate(s) will work closely with the Chief Executive, Directors and Senior Management team and will lead a department which is responsible for the planning, development, control and maintenance of Information and Communications Technology. They will be expected to implement and develop the ICT strategy/ vision to support the overall Corporate Plan of the Council and ensure best practice standards and codes of practice. They will also have an important role in the management of staff within the department and will be expected to advise on all ICT issues within the Council. The successful candidate(s) will: hold an honours degree (Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications) in the area of Information Technology or possess an equivalent qualification. S/he will also have satisfactory experience of Information Technology Project Management, Systems Development and Information Technology Infrastructure including relevant experience at a strategic management level.
