Description

Senior Compliance Officer. Provide technical compliance support and advice to business units in managing ongoing legal and regulatory obligations. We are seeking candidate form a financial services or insurance background and the position can be based in Cavan or Dublin. Key Tasks. Act as a liaison and provide support and compliance advice to the business in managing compliance requirements while adhering to tight deadlines. This includes working closely clients and internal departments to clearly understand and address business problems and issues. To independently assess routine as well as non-routine compliance issues and determine if and when to escalate to management. Review and assess compliance requirements on significant business projects, ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements arising from projects and business initiatives are being considered and included within project scope. Communicate clearly and timely to business units the key compliance risks to be addressed and provide detailed support throughout the project process. Research of the Irish/UK Insurance market and general business legislation, which may entail in depth and complex research, fact gathering and analysis. Provide accurate and timely compliance advice and assistance, including interpretation of existing and proposed new guidance and legislation and propose how they should be implemented within the business units. Ensure management are notified of changes on a timely basis. Assessment of compliance risks and controls in place by the business to mitigate the associated compliance risks. Provide an independent evaluation of, and opinion on, processes, systems and controls to manage compliance risks, providing recommendations to address areas of vulnerability. Perform internal independent compliance reviews to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulation. Addressing any ad hoc legal/compliance queries. Complete ad hoc reports and duties as required by Management. Provide detailed compliance progress reports to senior management including contribution to board and committee reports to ensure senior management are up to date and aware of key compliance issues. Where required, verify follow up actions taken by the Business areas in response to Compliance queries on projects/changes, to ensure that compliance recommendations have been addressed. Assist with engagement with Regulatory Bodies and the med inspections. This entails reviewing information requests from regulatory bodies, assessing materials to be submitted and any compliance exposures, managing visits, responding to queries and formal letters from regulatory bodies. Ensuring business units meet the required regulatory deadlines. Personal Specification: Essential. • Professional qualification in Accountancy or Legal Disciplines. • 5 years compliance and regulatory experience in Compliance Officer role. • Insurance or Financial Services Background. • Strong knowledge of legal and regulatory environment in ROI and UK. • Knowledge of insurance processes and operations. • Very strong analytical and research skills. • Excellent report writing and communication skills. • Excellent knowledge of microsoft packages-including use of Visio. • Ability to work in team environment or on own initiative (as required. • Strong problem solving skills. • Self motivated, able to plan and prioritise workload in order to achieve deadlines. • Ability to represent the Company publicly and with confidence. • Ability to balance a number of conflicting priorities and make decisions. Desirable. ACII/APA/CIP qualified. Professional Diploma in Compliance or pursuing same. Project Management experience.
