Our Client is a major dairy processing co-operative, operates within a fifteen county catchment area across the northern half of the island of Ireland. The Group processes about one billion litres of quality milk annually into a range of value added dairy foodservice products and functional dairy food ingredients. They are currently recruiting for an IT Software Engineer to join their exciting team based in Killeshandra. (but required to be mobile.) Reporting to the IT Project Manager, Key responsibilities include: Researching, designing and writing new software programs. Testing new programs and fault finding. Integrating existing software products and getting incompatible platforms to work together. Support & maintenance of existing key line of business applications & integration solutions. Creating technical specifications and test plans. Writing and testing code and then refining and rewriting as necessary. Writing operational documentation. Taking ownership of technical deliverables within projects. Maintaining systems by monitoring and correcting software defects. Working closely with other staff, such as project managers, designers, developers, systems analysts, and other key business professionals. Investigating new technologies. Continually updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications. The Person. Educated to degree level standard in an Information Technology related subject. At least three years'''''''' experience working in an Information Technology environment. Needs to be comfortable with web based programmes as well as traditional programmes like Java and Visual Basic. Knowledge of .NET Framework (C#, ASP.NET, ADO. NET) and JavaScript. Experience using MSSQL with an ability to write stored procedures, user defined functions and SQL queries. Solid understanding of architecture of web applications, object oriented design and relational database design. Experience with latest versions of Microsoft Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio. Some knowledge of SharePoint would be beneficial. Knowledge in current computer hardware and operating systems. An appreciation of the bigger business picture, not just its IT requirements. Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills. Ability to meet prioritise work and meet deadlines. Ability to take the lead or be part of a team depending on project type.
